Video Games

The video games industry is currently one of the fastest-growing sectors within the creative industries. Despite its relatively short history, it plays a significant role in terms of both its social and cultural impact and its economic potential. It is an exceptionally interdisciplinary field, combining expertise in the arts, technology, design, storytelling, music and business, thereby creating opportunities for creators from a wide range of specialisms and backgrounds.

The Significance of Polish Video Games

The Polish video game industry is a mature market: with over 800 active studios, 14,500 specialists, and annual revenues of EUR 1.2 billion, we rank among the leaders in Europe. Interestingly, this sector relies almost entirely on exports, as much as 97% of production is destined for global audiences (data based on the report "The Game Industry of Poland 2025"). Video games are now a fully-fledged creative format and one of the most effective tools for building Poland’s brand globally.

Key Areas of Support and Activity at the IPK

To meet the needs of the video games industry, the Creative Industries Institute (IPK) is creating a previously missing systemic link. This initiative aims to provide the industry with a stable and secure foundation within the state’s structures.

Main Areas In Which We Operate

  • International promotion: We organise national pavilions at the PAX East and PAX West trade fairs and support the participation of Polish developers at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and gamescom.
  • Professionalisation, networking, and skills development: We run MeetUp65 networking events, organise game jams, and facilitate meetings with the international games sector.
  • Gaming culture and heritage: We promote the Polish games industry as a key element of culture and creative potential through landmark initiatives, including the Digital Dreamers project at Expo 2025 in Osaka and the exhibition "Join the Game: 40 Years of Polish Video Games".

Our target audiences

Our activities are primarily focused on small and medium-sized video game studios, individual creators and business support organisations. We support the growth of organisations at various stages of their operations: from start-up teams and independent developers to experienced studios seeking new opportunities for growth, collaboration and internationalisation.

At the same time, we strive to build an open ecosystem by collaborating with as broad a range of participants as possible from the Polish video games industry. We work alongside businesses, industry organisations, public institutions, the academic community and experts while also establishing partnerships both domestically and abroad. We believe that the development of the games sector is based on cooperation, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and the creation of conditions that foster innovation and strengthen the competitiveness of Polish developers on the international market.
